18 year olds, they know how to party.........
Category: Life

Nephew's 18th yesterday. I'd had 3 hours sleep - in total, thankfully all in a row! After sis and her kids had been I was getting quite crabby, just because it's hard to string a sentence together when you are sleep deprived and I wasn't in the best of moods so took myself off to bed. By this point, over three weeks have passed and I still haven't had a proper sleep, rest -yes, sleep no. It really got to me yesterday and the old "radiation emotional tiredness" feeling came back. I just sobbed for a few hours, cuddling the toy lion mum gave me in ICU on her first visit, when everyone had gone off to the party. Tried every trick I could think of to get to sleep, nothing worked. Eventually after resorting to waking myself up instead with Fatboy Slim's Palookaville on i-dog speaker I felt a bit better and decided crying about cancer and lack of sleep wasn't going to change anything.

Out came the GHDs, the make up and the designer room bargain VERY long top to cover PTW and the fact that I can't do up the trousers I was wearing or it strangles PTW who gets upset.

Mum and Bex came to escort me safely up the road (in the rain obviously) and I snaffled a jacket spud and marge (forgot about PTW and spoke to someone whilst swallowing a huge piece of unchewed skin - which I just said hello to again ).

Three glasses of red wine

lots of making derogatory comments about some young lush who was after said nephew.........and failing

laughter at the drinking games and general silliness, mostly instigated by "grown ups"

a few snapshots as evidence that a good time was had by all in the pouring rain under several gazebos

then home to bed for midnight................to listen to PTW protesting at the wine for an hour. I was awake from 2.45am until gone 3.30 so made a loo visit. Managed to grab the odd half hour before giving up and dragging myself downstairs at 9.30.

I think I'm going to say, sod the contradindications on the drugs I'm taking for depression and neck a bottle of ANYTHING that promises a comatose response if I don't get some sleep by Monday.

Going home today so hopefully pottering about in my own house will kid my head into doing the sleeping thing........!

Ooooo lunch is ready, must go!

GlitterGirl....

Hope the multiple-orifice thing is going okay, and well done on the wine! I have had a couple of spectacular tumbles off the wagon lately and reckon wine is good for the soul...and an essential part of recovery!

Dreamy made loads of Indian food for me last night - highlight being a curry filled with lentils, chillis and peppers. Cue self-imposed explosive poo rockets...and on the loo this morning I thought "at least Lisa's PTW stops her getting ring sting!!" (Sorry, that was vile...I will just crawl back under this rock over here, okay? Good...)

Hope you're still feeling better every day. And well done on getting a pass out...your mum must be VERY proud of her nursing skills!! ;o) xx

Hmmpf, I had a Sunday morning "Neo Rectum" clear out and another one today - where the hell is it all coming from?

Try natural yoghurt to take the edge off the chillis dear - the pair of you should know better! As for ring sting - I have a double whammy, my butt is still sore AND the skin around PTW is peeled off and red raw :o( beat that you single bottomed freak hahahahaha!

Ouch Lisa to the soreness round your stoma - are you using barrier wipes? You may be allergic to adhesive on your flange that's why your so sore - they can provide you with another type!! Stoma's don't like wine - they protest and squeak! LOL They do make some funny noises at times, but you will get use to what you can't or can't have food wise and don't forget you can always take imodium to give you a "Quakers" consistency!! Don't give up on drinking the occasional glass of wine tho - its good for the recovery! PTW will settle down and also the sore skin too.

You will eventually develop a sleep pattern - it does take time! Cos your now home and pottering around you may find your sleep better. Don't deprieve your body of sleep - Nytol can help!

So happy that your doing so well.

Yes PTW did indeed squeak, I knew it wouldn't be good, but just being "normal" for a few hours was worth it. Right now I'm eating what I like because I'm on my own and don't really care about the noises, must remember to think before I go out well in advance though! I've been trying jelly and greenish bananas for the porridge look, however veg and fish and rice or spuds is the best think I've found so far.

I don't think it is the flange Caz, it's just this one bit on one side where the separation was, I think it's more that the separation was causing stuff to get to the sore skin and make it worse, but I have got two sorts of doughnuts to use as an extra barrier - cavilon is my favourite too. I'm not in any pain with the skin now, it just looks rotten!!! Will see how it goes over the next week and go back to see nurse if no improvement.

Note to self: Tomato soup is NOT a good idea a few hours before bedtime - in the wee hours it looks scary...........

GlitterGirl....

I would seriously avoid beetroot for the same reason. Gillian McKeith's book suggests mainlining beetroot to find out your "transit time"....even when you know, purpley poo is bloody scary....!

Sorry, but "flange" is still tooooo funny!! ;o)

Hehe I have two sorts of bags with different FLANGES just as alternatives and two sorts of FLANGE "donuts" then of course there's the current aid to healing the base plate FLANGE and separate bag.......the two piece.

I think I used to think poo was funny once.............now it's just like saying the word "AND" in my conversations. Angela said the other day "you know one day we'll have a conversation that doesn't involve your poo Lisa". Thing is people are just used to it now!
